How to Prepare Your Motorcycle for the Winter?

onHow to Prepare Your Motorcycle for the Winter?
In the post we prepared, we will present you with some really useful tips
(steps) on how to prepare your motorcycle for storage during the winter season.
Properly storing your motorcycle during wintertime reduces the chance of damage
or corrosion during the upcoming seasons.
Step 1. Battery
The first thing to do is to check the battery. If the battery is not of the
sealed type, the acid levels should be checked and the cells may need to be filled with distilled water. Make sure the connectors are clean and free of
corrosion.
Step 2. Engine Оil
It is recommended to change the engine oil before the winter season to avoid corrosion and oxidation caused by the exhaust oil. When changing the oil, make sure to replace your old oil filter with a new one.
Step 3. The Chain
Additionally, make sure to clean the chain of your motorcycle and to lubricate it later. Cleaning and removing grease on the chain and gears is important. Chain sprays guarantee optimal lubrication and protection.
Step 4. Fork
It is also useful to inspect the motor fork. Leaks should not be neglected as they can easily slip on the brakes and tires.
Step 5. Cleaning the Motorcycle
Of course, you can always wash your bike well. (Recommendation: If you decide to wash your bike efficiently, make sure you wash it before cleaning and lubricating the motor chain).
Step 6. Brake Discs
There are effective brake disc cleaning products that can keep our breaks running with no issues. Spray the brake discs at a distance and wipe immediately with a cloth or paper towel, as the product will evaporate very quickly.
Step 7. Tires
When cleaning the brakes, the condition of the tires and fork can be quickly checked. Is there enough tire pressure, are there any tire cracks or other damage? And what about tread depth? Check with tire tread depth gauge easily and accurately.
Step 8. Start the Еngine
If the motorcycle is stored properly, during winter months there is a
reason to believe the engine will start and run smoothly when the riding season
begins. Motorcycles with injection systems are certainly less problematic in
this regard. However, with carburetors, the question is a little different. If
your engine barely starts, perhaps it is time to put your trust in some of the
accessories on the market for an easy start.
